Creating this unique plot started off with brainstorming whatever we could think of combining the stimulus. No matter how basic, predictable and creative the story ideas were, we listed all of them. Then, we started mixing up the ideas. During the process, the story almost remained the same except the ending. It was supposed to end with fooling the audience but instead of the main character being dramatic about the jacket, the main character would be concerned about her poodle instead. However, we thought it was missing something. Therefore, we decided to add a big plot twist at the end where the poodle suddenly talked. On top of that, we thought the dialogue was boring so we added humorous lines. That’s how our masterpiece started.

The biggest challenge we came across was expressing our emotions verbally. It was very different from talking normally or even acting in a real drama. Since we couldn’t show actions, we had to ensure our tone and volume spoke for itself. Portraying the group of rich girl friends was hard as they all have similar personalities. Yet we overcame this by asking our teachers what improvements we could make. We followed their advice which led to a better performance. As time went by, we got used to and became attached to the characters.

How we dealt with failure is through optimism. Although we practiced a lot and ended up winning some awards, there were still flaws in our performance. One of them was the murmuring sounds, which was a presentation of an argument in the background while the main character talked. It was hard to murmur loudly because we didn’t want to overpower the main character’s volume. Moreover, it was difficult to make the murmur clear so it could really sound like there was an argument happening. Despite that failure, we were still proud of ourselves for giving our best.

Advice we can give to our peers is to never be afraid of commitment. Due to our commitment, we were able to put so much effort into not only the performance but the whole process of making an audio drama. Commitment can be scary because of high expectations. However, we remained humble and didn’t expect too much of ourselves as it is better than being disappointed. We still gave our best and that’s what really matters. We considered awards as a bonus to our hard work rather than a golden prize.
